New Delhi: With almost a year left for the next Lok Sabha election, Home Minister Amit Shah is ready with the target for Tamil Nadu as he appealed to the voters to elect more than 25 MPs from BJP and its allies out of a total of 39 seats. The Union Minister wooed the voters in Tamil Nadu as he wielded Sengol which came to the limelight after Prime Minister placed it in the new parliament building. Shah also highlighted the work done by the Modi government and asserted that a government under the leadership of Narendra Modi would be formed again at the Centre.
Shah, while addressing a public rally in Pallikonda in Vellore district, said, "I have come to appeal to all of you to elect BJP and its allies in more than 25 seats in Tamil Nadu." The Home Minister stressed the fact that the Prime Minister installed the Sengol-- which" is emblematic of the Chola empire". Shah also highlighted several steps taken by the Modi government to promote the Tamil language, culture and history. "Modi ji makes it a point to mention the greatness of Tamil literature, Tamil saints and scholars and culture with immense pride in whichever country he visits."
Shah also attacked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for asking PM Modi about his contribution to the state. Shah claimed that when Stalin's DMK was a part of the UPA government, Tamil Nadu got Rs 95,000 crore from the Centre in 10 years. In contrast, PM Modi gave Rs 2,47,000 crore to Tamil Nadu in nine years.
Shah also targeted both the Congress and DMK as he called the opposition a "2G, 3G and 4G parties", highlighting the corruption charges against the opposition. "The Maran family is 2G, which has spent two generations in corrupt politics; the Karunanidhi family is 3G, which has been in corrupt politics for 3 generations and the Gandhi family is into the same for 4 generations. It is now time to throw 2G, 3G and 4G out and hand over the rule of Tamil Nadu to the son of the soil of the state," he said.
