Dehradun: The District administration of Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPc in Purola in the wake of tension over alleged 'Love Jihad' cases. "Section 144 CrPC imposed in Purola", said DM Uttarkashi Abhishek Rohilla. He also informed that the District administration has refused permission to hold maha panchayat in Purola over 'love-jihad' cases.
"The Uttarkashi district administration has refused permission for the proposed maha panchayat on June 15 in Purola. No one will be allowed to disturb law & order in the state, said DGP Ashok Kumar.
Meanwhile, in the Doiwala area of the Dehradun district, another case has come to light where a man of a particular community was forcing a Hindu girl into religious conversion and marriage. "Case registered against accused Armaan Ansari, his sister Tamanna and his mother, under other sections including the Uttarakhand Religious Freedom Act. Accused taken into custody, probe underway", said Rajesh Sah, SHO Doiwala
Earlier last week, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with senior police officers and asked them to take stern action against "love jihad." "People of different faiths co-exist peacefully in Uttarakhand but things like love jihad will not be tolerated. Crimes like these were being committed as part of a conspiracy. But people are coming out openly against them now," Dhami told reporters.
